The Managing Partner received one of the nicest emails we ever received today: “Our hero Anne Tamashasky!”
The email commends and thanks Anne Tamashasky for her work defending a student wrongfully accused of misconduct in a school disciplinary hearing.
I wanted to take this opportunity to say how fortunate we feel to have had Anne by our son’s side during the last 6 months. As a parent, handing over control of a life changing event to another person, especially someone we didn’t know very well, is incredibly difficult. Through the process, though, Anne made it easier for us. When I would call her to ask questions, I always had a sense of relief when I hung up the phone. She answered text messages promptly regardless of if it was the evening or weekend. I always felt like she was available to us anytime of the day or night. Her communication skills were second only to her experience. There were so many unknowns in this process from our vantage point, but her insight and knowledge put him at ease. Obviously being falsely accused creates anxiety. She helped show his anxiety over the situation was based upon his sincerity and truthfulness. And she never sugar coated her thoughts on where things stood. Her frankness and honesty and background as a former prosecutor instilled a sense of confidence in him. I told my son at the start of the hearing, “let Anne do her job and you are in good hands.” He said afterwards that he felt good having her there with him and appreciated the approach she took with witnesses. The final result was “Not responsible” on three counts! And no appeal! We are finally able to put this behind us and move forward. The words “thank you” seem so inadequate, but I don’t know what else to say.
Messages like this are extremely satisfying. Not everyone gets to do a job where we help people, fight injustice, and repair the world one small piece at a time. We do. And we are grateful for the opportunity.
